Ok, ok, I admit it....when Jackson was first born everyone told me, "it goes by so fast enjoy every minute of it". I smiled, maybe rolled my eyes a bit and thought nothing of it. I was in the middle of sleeping a few hours a night, dealing with new parent anxieties, wondering when I was going to get "my life" back not to mention more sleep and trying to budget how I could be a stay at home mom...I was not feeling the time pass that quickly!
Well it happened our baby is TWO! Our lives have changed forever...I don't want "my old life" back...and I am so thankful I have been around for every first, good days, bad days and even a few horrible days but I wouldn't change it for the world!!! He is an official toddler....I am as happy as I am sad...The time went by way to fast and now I find myself telling others the same advice!
He is what's new with Jackson:
-At two he weighs 30.8 lbs (65% percentile for his age) 36 3/4 inches tall (off the charts for height) and head is in 45th percentile. At birth he weighed 8 lbs 2 oz 20 inches long and at one year he was 29 inches tall and 21.2 lbs. Pretty cool to look back!
-Sleeping 12-13 hours a night waking around 8am and still napping 2 hours a day!
-Wearing a size 8 shoe and size 3T clothes and loves getting new shoes!
-Can wash and dry his hands.
-We bought some inexpensive step stools at IKEA and he loves taking them around the house helping us turn the lights on and off
-Talking up a storm...loves to tell you stories and to reflect about past experiences. He still talks about the baby lizard (gecko) that we found in Hawaii and how lizards eat bugs!
-LOVES anything truck, bus or construction (yes he thinks daddy has the coolest job, lol!!) and LOVES Thomas & Friends
-Loves to read, we still are doing the routine..bath, book & bed.
-Can identify all colors, we are working on silver, gray, & gold.
-Can identify, circle, square, heart, cone, oval, triangle and star shapes. *proud mommy bragging moment...His pediatrician was blown away by all color and shape knowledge!!!*
-Loves to eat and help "cook" in kitchen. His favorite foods are garbanzo beans (i know a little weird!!), cucumber, sweet potato fries, cheerios, and burritos (beans & rice)
-still no dairy but we have been successful in adding baked egg products and some soy protein in his diet. He loves to drink Almond milk.
-Loves to work outside with daddy!
-Has a really good sense of humor!!
-Enjoys brushing his teeth...we are going to the dentist for the first time in a few weeks!
- Starting a Spanish class and a mommy & me preschool class in the spring.
-Still using sign language and we are trying to introduce new signs to him (had to break out college sign language book)
-Shows interest in the potty, and has been successful especially before bath time but I am going to wait a few months on this one :)
-Loves animals especially dogs & cats. We babysat our neighbors Boxer, named Addison and he loved having her at the house. I miss having a dog too, but timing is everything and now is not the time :(
-Had is first "real sickness" over new year. He got a nasty virus that went to an ear infection (1st one :( and a really gross cough. Thankfully he is taking his "medis" as he calls it, like a champ!
-Says "I love you" and gives hugs to accompany this....ahhh it is such a amazing feeling to be on the receiving end of this!
Happy New Year from our happy little corner to yours!

Kid's Christmas Party
My good friend Kim hosted a Kid's Christmas party on Sunday December 19th. She is so creative and put so much detail into this party. She had crafts set up for all the kids. Jackson made a frame, ornament and decorated a gingerbread house. He had so much fun! As if that was not enough she hired Santa to come and visit all the kids. Parents were asked to bring a wrapped toy so Santa could deliver some presents a little early. Unfortunately we had the Haviland Christmas that morning so we weren't able to stay to see Santa :( Here are some pictures from the party. Thank you Joe & Kim for such a fun time!!
